Back to sport, step by step
Sports injury care at our Surry Hills clinic combines assessment, hands-on treatment, taping and graded exercise for runners, gym-goers and weekend players.
Can a chiropractor help with sports injuries?
Chiropractors assess and manage many muscle, joint and tendon injuries common in sport, such as back strain, hip and shoulder pain and ankle sprains. Care can ease pain while a graded exercise plan rebuilds strength and load tolerance.
We start with a history and examination. If we suspect a fracture, a significant tear or concussion, we refer you for imaging, to your GP or to a sports physician.
Who is it for?
- Runners with back, hip or knee niggles
- Gym-goers with lifting-related back or shoulder pain
- Team sport players recovering from a sprain or strain
- Anyone planning a safe, graded return to training
What to expect
- 01
History
We go through how the injury happened, your training load, past injuries and what you want to get back to.
- 02
Examination
Movement, strength and sport-specific tests show what is involved and whether a referral is needed.
- 03
Treatment
Care may include joint mobilisation, soft tissue work, taping and early loading exercises.
- 04
Return plan
A staged plan with clear milestones guides you from rehab to full training and competition.
Between sessions
Follow the load limits in your plan and keep a short training log. Some soreness after exercise is expected, but pain that worsens the next day means scale back and tell us at your next visit.
Common questions
Both can manage many sports injuries. What matters most is a clear assessment and a graded plan. We refer to physios and sports doctors when that suits you better.
